east bay, charged with molesting a teenage boy. authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest. "today in the bay's" marla tallez joins us live from palo alto where he was once a high school coach. >> reporter: good morning. joe kaufman coached here at palo alto high school in 2006. he was here for just one season. a $300,000 reward is out for his arrest. this mug shot was taken in august when he was arrested for child molestation. charges were not filed then because police had not finished their investigation. the contra costa district attorney's office says he is facing several felonies and a few misdemeanors, including molesting a teenage boy over a seven-year period that ended in 2012. these charges include drugging this boy with an unknown substance and raping him. the da says he secretly

videotaped another boy as he undressed in a bathroom. he has many ties to baseball, currently the head coach of a traveling team called california smoke. this is based in san jose and caters to high school boyce. he owns a batting case in san leandro called triple play usa. prior to coaching here, coughman spent six seasons in oakland coaching for bishop o'dowd high school. the da says the charges are for two victims. they suspect there are more victims out there. if you have any information, you are asked to call the police. this morning, heavy fog may be to blame for an overnight crash sending two people to the hospital in san francisco. this all happened near west pore tall muni station. a couple was crossing the street when they were hit by a vehicle. police, not official cli saying it was the fog that caused that

crash but they do say it played ale in a number of crashes around the bay area last night. >> it has been quite a foggy evening out here in the sunset. probably, the rest of the city as well. we have had a few accidents earlier. it has been quite foggy and a little drizzly. >> police tell us that man that was hit will be okay. however, the condition of the elderly woman who was with him remains unknown. >> new details. the oakland auditor has released a report showing some city council members inappropriately influencing city operations. the report reveals 14 different times council members or their aids infringed in administrative affairs. some of the violations include a council member interfering with two city recreation centers. a council aide improperly asking staff to reduce the aids parking

fees. they will decide what punishment, if any, they will face the american indian charter schools say they are appealing the oakland unified school district's decision to shut the schools down at the end of the year. oufd making that decision to revoke that charter late last night saying the schools are financially mismanaged and engaging in illegal activity. parents with students at those schools say they are very upset because of the school's high performance track record. students have the highest academic performance index scores in the entire district. let's see how high our temperatures will get today. checking with christina lauren. taking a live like at sfo, no fog to report. winds are so strong, the fog is not able to settle. we just told you that there was some pretty thick fog overnight. you might encounter some fog.

heading south it from dunbar. coming down into the upper 50s. northbound route for 101 in particular. 87, not a big deal. 280 has been a little slow from down down san diego. we'll take you to the santa cruz mountains where highway 17 has an issue. there was an earlier crash where it was blocking one or part of the second lane. a full stop for a few minutes as crews arrive. it looks like the northbound side has cleared as folks are coming up. the southbound was ploeing from idyllwild but that has cleared. folks over the san mateo bridge increase the volume coming off of the high-rise with the headlights. bridge drive, 55-60 miles an hour. over towards the bay bridge toll plaza, all lanes backed up past

the 880 overcrossing quickly filling in as the lights build. >> 6:08. changes proposed for a vacation hot spot may have thousands changing those summer vacation plans. yosemite may be closing a list of popular attractions. "today in the bay's" krischrist smith is live in the bay. >> reporter: good morning. we are talking about some of the most popular spring and summer activities, renting a bicycle, jumping in the hotel swimming pool. those could be eliminated thanks to a lawsuit that was filed about 15 years ago. this will be discussed at a public meeting, all tied to a lawsuit over what should be there and protect the flow. this calls for rebuilding

hundreds of camp sites that were destroyed in a 1997 flood. in the '80s, a number of dams were proposed near the park. environmentalists fought back along with signs requiring the park service to protect and enhance that river. then came the lawsuit. a court of appeals ruled some activities contributed to the merced river. one environmentalist said they were trying to stop the dams, not recreation. the park is looking at ending bike, raft, and horse rentals, swimming pools at the lodges would go as well and they are alsos talking about removing the sugar pine bridge and even the ice ring at curry village would go. the park could allow rentals about a quar der mile awter mil the river. you could bring your own bicycle to the park. if you want to weigh in, that is from 5:00 to 8:00.

northbound, we have an incident. the northbound route is very slow passion by a crash that blocks one lane. the southbound side is distracted because this crash activity is up against the center divide and clearly visit because of the low barrier. northbound from santa cruz in towards los gatos. if you are going los gatos south, you have the slowly but just for a shorter span. allow a couple extra minutes there. the rest of your south bay, except for highway 17 over the summit moves really smoothly. the 110 keeps fluctuating. 880, a little build coming down towards 101 and out of fremont. looking over here towards livermore. a smooth drive has cleared over on grant line road.

that is net apps ringing the bell. this is "today in the bay." it is 6:30. good thursday morning. new this morning, palestinian's militants in gaza have fired at least two rockets in southern israel on the second day of president obama's visit. one exploded in the courtyard of a home in a border town causing damage but no injuries. the other landed in an open field. president obama was miles away in jerusalem where he spent part of the morning to see the dead sea skroels. "today in the bay's" tracie potts monitoring the trip. the president is sent to emphasize the importance of reaching an israeli-palestinian

peace deal. a message specially underscored by today's rocket attacks what the president said was israelis can't be worried about rockets falling on their heads and into the windows of their children but on the other hand, the palestinians deserve a sovereign state. you see the president arriving and the 100 or 50 so protesters being ushered away. the reception not quite as good as yesterday at the tel-aviv airport. the president's point was that both sides, palestinians and israelis can't wait for conditions to be perfect before restarting talks. he talked about the jewish settlement in the west bank saying it is not conducive to peace. a couple of rockets came down on a town the president had visited

suspect con fronted another man three blocks away and demanded money. he hit that man in the head. both victims were treated for minor injuries. the us is spekt did manage to escape with some cash. >> from palo alto to san jose to the east bay, a baseball coach that has worked with teens all over the bay area is charged with molesting a teenage boy and videotaping another in the bathroom. marla tallez joins us live in palo alto where joel kaufman once coach have had. >> reporter: laura, good morning. kaufman coached back in 2006 for just one season. authorities are not saying this morning whether his victims actually played for him. they are not real leasing these boys' names, trying to protect them. kaufman is facing a slew of charges including several felonies and a few misdemeanors and a $300,000 warrant is out for his arrest.

saying what sparked the flames. they had to wait an hour for pg&e to deal with down power lines before they could put out the flames san francisco prosecutors say they do not have enough evidence to charge a man arrested in the killing of a 76-year-old newspaper ven torey. they believe that mark galifted up matt up and dropped him on the pavement. it is possible he could be charged later. folk singer, michelle shocker, is apologizing after using a gay slur during a performance in san francisco. she says her comments about gay people and gay marriage were misinterpreted. she says she doesn't judge gay people but were trying to point out how some feel about the issue. across the country, most of her performances have been canceled as a result of her comment.
